As a young adult, Morneau was introduced to spiritualism through a friend, and nearly joined a secret order of spirit worshipers who claimed to be the "elite".〔Morneau, Roger J. (1982). "A Trip Into The Supernatural". Review and Herald. p. 32. ISBN 0-8280-0138-3〕 Before he was to make a full commitment, however, he asked a Seventh-day Adventist co-worker, Cyril Grosse, to go over some Bible studies with him.〔Morneau, Roger J. (1982). "A Trip Into The Supernatural". Review and Herald. p. 72. ISBN 0-8280-0138-3〕 This turned him away from spiritualism and began his studies of Christ as an Adventist. Morneau claims there was the threat of a bounty on his head of $10,000〔Morneau, Roger J. (1982). "A Trip Into The Supernatural". Review and Herald. p. 121.
